Economic Impact of Iron Ore Market Changes
02 Sep, 2015

The Labrador West Chamber of Commerce has recognized that the business community has been greatly impacted by the changes in the iron ore market, mine closures and cost cutting measures by the reaming mine operation. In an effort to assist its members, the Chamber has sought funding support to conduct an economic impact study relating to the drastic changes in the region. The project will include a comprehensive situational analysis, surveys and targeted interviews with the complete business community and key stakeholders. The ultimate goal is to obtain factual data from the business community which can be used to influence government decision makers, municipal leaders and business support groups and develop strategic solutions for businesses and the region. A local consulting company, VIVA Group, has been selected to conduct this study. Viva has skilled researchers and a broad knowledge of iron ore mining and the supply chain. The Chamber is asking for the cooperation of the business community in this project. CONFIDENTIALITY The Labrador West Chamber of Commerce and its representatives regard the confidentiality of survey data to be of utmost importance. Confidential surveys collect personally identifiable information that may be combined with existing data. No personally identifiable information will be reported back unless it is voluntarily offered.
